Do you have any muses?
Millions of them. I would say Lana Del Rey, of course. Lana inspires me a lot, because she’s extremely complex. She’s confusing. You never know what’s real and what’s not about her. She plays with that character so well; she’s a master of illusion. She’s beautiful, and she’s one of the best singers I’ve known so far. She really inspired me when we did those videos together and when we sang together onstage.
Marina & The Diamonds seems to really like Lana Del Rey, she described Lana as “fascinating” in an interview with The Huffington Post.
THP: It also made me think about the first line of your song “Sex Yeah” and how you sing “Nothing is provocative anymore.” Because of that, stars are forced then to keep going further and further — especially in what we could call a “post-Gaga era.” Everything has been pushed so far, it seems like artists are constantly being forced to consider what they can do next to shock or titillate.
Marina: Totally. This is why I love pop culture and I love being a pop artist because you get to discuss things like this. I find it so interesting that after the whole Gaga thing, then comes Lana Del Rey, who does nothing and is completely fascinating! And that really signals a change in the times. And to be honest with you, I think it was a relief for a lot of artists. If that doesn’t come naturally to you — to be constantly provocative — you don’t really feel like you have to do that. The times have definitely changed.

Lana Del Rey was spotted on Anfield watching Liverpool vs Tottenham game. Lana gave an interview for Liverpool FC, she talks about football, Liverpool and her manager, Ben Mawson.
The singer, whose album ‘Born to Die’ charted at No.1 in 11 countries last year, was making her first ever visit to Anfield to see the match against Tottenham Hotspur and she turned out to be something of a lucky charm – as the Reds came from behind to win 3-2.
Before the game kicked off, Lana spoke exclusively to the official LFC website.
Why are you at Anfield today?
I was introduced to Liverpool FC by my manager, Ben, whose mood is dependent on the Liverpool results. I love watching Luis Suarez play.
What are your first impressions of the city and the football stadium?
It’s actually my second time in Liverpool but my first time at Anfield. The people in Liverpool are so friendly and the stadium’s really impressive.
Are you a football fan and have you attended a match before?
I’ve not had the chance to attend a game before but I’ve watched Liverpool on TV before. It’s great to actually come to Anfield.
Liverpool supporters will be delighted to hear you are at Anfield today and will want to know if you are now a Liverpool fan?
Yes! Liverpool are my team but I also support Celtic in Scotland, who are my boyfriend Barrie’s team.

BBC.co.uk has published an interview with Lana Del Rey, she talks about her second album and music videos.
The American singer, who now lives in the UK, has recently been writing new music in Santa Monica, California, for her new release.
She said: “It’s a little more stripped down but still cinematic and dark.”
Last week the star, whose real name is Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, won the award for best international female at the Brit Awards.
‘Slow progress’
Speaking to Newsbeat after her win, the 26-year-old said: “I’ve been working on it really slowly but I love everything I’ve done.“I’ve been writing in Santa Monica (California) and I know what the record sounds like. Now I just have to finish it.
“Musically I’ve worked with the same three guys.”
Lana Del Rey’s debut album Born To Die, released in January 2012, was the fifth best-selling album around the world last year, shifting 3.4 million copies.
Frenchman Yoann Lemoine, or Woodkid as he’s know on stage, directed Lana Del Rey’s Born To Die and Blue Jeans videos and the singer says she already has a vision for one of her new tracks.
“For some reason the videos are still the easiest things that come,” she explained.
“As soon as I write the words to a song, I can paint exactly what I want the picture to look like.
“I have a song called Black Beauty and I’ve already talked to people about making it.”
