Lana Del Rey teases new song ‘Mariners Apartment Complex’

Lana Del Rey has announced that she will be releasing two “end of summer jams” next week. The first one is called ‘Mariners Apartment Complex’ which she teased in an Instagram post tagging producer Jack Antonoff.

She sings: “You took my sadness out of context / At the Mariners apartment complex / I ain’t no candle in the wind / I’m the board, the lightning, the thunder / The kind of girl who’s gonna make you wonder / Who you are and where you’ve been”

It’s assumed that Lana will be releasing ‘Mariners Apartment Complex’ with a music video shot by Chuck Grant, starring herself and Ashley Rodriguez. You can listen to the song premiere on BBC Radio 1 around 7-7:30PM BST on September 12.

Lana Del Rey: “Performing in Tel Aviv is not a political statement”

UPDATE: Lana Del Rey has cancelled her appearance. Click here to read her statement on Twitter.

Through Twitter, Lana Del Rey commented on something President Donald Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, said: “Truth isn’t truth.” She said: “‘the truth isn’t the truth’ is a very disturbing statement. Having a shared agreement on what the basis of reality and truth is is what holds the fabric of civilization together. That being said I do feel like this quote sums up the kulture, and in one sentence explains why there is such a division in political opinion and mental health right now.”

Due to Trump and Israel being in the news regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Lana clarified that her thoughts about her upcoming performance at the Meteor Festival in Tel Aviv, Israel. She said her appearance there is not a political statement and she does not support Trump or what is currently happening in Israel. In a long statement, shared in two parts on Twitter, she said:

“On the tropic of ‘truth’ (my earlier tweet that referenced a statement made by Giuliani about Trump today) I understand that many of u are upset that we’re going to Tel Aviv for the Meteor festival. I understand your concern, I really do. What I can tell you is I believe music is universal and should be used to bring us together. We signed onto the show with the intention that it would be performed for the kids there and my plan was for it to be done with a loving energy, with a thematic emphasis on peace. If you don’t agree with it, I get it. I see both sides. But me and my band have been performing all over the world for months out of the years for close to 10 years now together. And we’re about to travel to a place that many big bands are playing this year and at a festival. WE don’t always agree with the politics of the places we play within or even in our own country – sometimes we don’t even feel safe, depending on how far abroad, but we travel – but we are musicians and we’ve dedicated our lives to being on the road. So in closing, although I have deep sentiments over what is true or not true, right or wrong – I would like to remind you that performing in Tel Aviv is not a political statement or a commitment to the politics there, just as my singing here is California doesn’t mean my views are in alignment with the current government’s opinions or sometimes inhuman actions. Or that I condone my own president who openly mocks disabled people at rallies (I’m not in anyway likening the gravity of certain travesties that have occurred in Israel to the current hardships we’re facing here). I’m just stating that I’m a simple singer, I’m doing my best to navigate the waters of the constant tumultuous hardships in the war-torn countries all over the world that I travel through monthly. For the record I’m doing the very best I can and my intentions are better than most peoples that I know.
L Del Rey

Some people challenged Lana’s intentions to go ahead with her appearance at Meteor Festival, but she replied sticking to her guns and wanting to promote love and positivity where it is needed the most.
